Auston and Kelsey’s Wedding

Auston and Kelsy’s wedding was a bright and happy event that I was honored to photograph. The wedding was held at the ‘Barn on Bridge’ event center in Collegeville, PA and the venue made me wish for more hours in the day to photograph all the unique little nooks around the barn. This summer wedding was a blend of cheerful decorating and a comfortable atmosphere of family and friends coming together to witness Auston and Kelsey’s union. The ceremony was a meaningful time with the couple exchanging personally written vows that beautifully expressed their dedication to each other. The reception was an all out party…these people knew their way around the dance floor! The Father/Daughter dance was a blast to watch and made everyone smile as did the toasts, the smashing of cake in Auston’s face, and the garter/bouqet tosses. It was a great experience to be with such a fun loving groups of people and to document such a special day in the lives of Auston and Kelsey. I wish the couple the very best in their new marriage!

Bryan and Cierra’s Wedding

Friday the 13th is taboo for many people, but not Bryan and Cierra who braved this superstitious date for their wedding day. The day started out gloomy, cloudy and rainy and I walked into the day thinking, “Cierra is going to be so bummed that it’s raining on her wedding day that is supposed to be held outside.” I’ve seen how much the rain can dampen a bride’s spirits and hopes for her day and that can be hard to watch. So when I got to the hotel, walked into the Bridal suite and found Cierra all smiles and relaxed…(SMILES AND RELAXED!) I couldn’t help but feel the same way. And that was the way the whole day went with both Bryan and Cierra. They were both so calm and happy despite a few other circumstances that would’ve sent many other couples in to a stress spiral. They were such a joy to be around and watch interact with their family, friends and each other. And awesomely enough, the rain stopped in time for their ceremony to be held outside. The evening turned into an absolute beautiful one with the sun making it’s first appearance in many days.

One of the things that I really appreciated about Cierra when I first met her was her authenticity. She wasn’t interested in a lot of the trimmings that come with many weddings. She just wanted to enjoy her celebration with the people that meant the most to her and that is exactly the way their wedding felt. I think they were both so calm because it didn’t matter that much to them if everything was “perfect” or not. They were thrilled that this was the day they were getting married and excited to share that with their family and friends. I was honored to witness moments of pure emotion; from Bryan’s letter he wrote to Cierra before the wedding (and had everyone within ear shot in tears), to his smile when he saw Cierra coming down the aisle, to Cierra’s emotional dance with her brother in honor of their father who passed away, to happy tears shed from beautiful words spoken by friends during the toasts, and dozens of other lovely exchanges between family and friends spending time together.  Those were the authentic moments that make weddings worth attending and that always remind me of how amazing it is to share our lives with other people.

So thank you Bryan and Cierra for sharing your love with us all and letting us all be apart of that experience for a day! You are both such kind and sweet people. Quality people.  I wish you all the best as you continue your journey together and raising your precious little Charlie.

William and Julia’s Wedding

William and Julia are many photographers’ ideal clients. They are super laid back and casual, true to who they are, pleasant to be around, calm when most are stressed out, and all around great people. Their wedding was held Halloween night at the College of Physicians in Philadelphia and it was truly an international affair.  Both had family fly in from several other countries and it was so fun to witness the joy of families reuniting for such a great event. The day started at the art deco styled Hotel Palomar where both Julia and William were getting ready. They had decided not to have a wedding party so this portion of the day seemed to be so relaxed and calm compared to many other weddings.  They both had close family members with them helping them prepare and just being there to support them.

The ceremony was held in the Library room at the College of Physicians. It was decorated simply but beautifully; a great reflection of the two of them. They spoke their vows surrounded by their family and officiated by Julia’s close family friend.

William and Julia had decided they wanted to do a first look, where the Bride and Groom see each other before the ceremony. First looks can be great for putting nervous energy to rest and allowing the couple to have a few moments to themselves before the craziness of the day continues. Its like a big exhale for some people and a chance for them to absorb what is happening in that moment.

The reception is where the colors really came out! They had beautiful Italian masquerade masks for all of their guests, a live band who knew how to get the guests dancing, great food, a photo booth, and friends and family who knew how to have fun. They had little touches of halloween in their details but they kept it classy and subtle. One special highlight was William’s sister singing him a song that she had written for the Bride and Groom. It was such a notable moment that spoke volumes of the love shared between the two siblings.

It was such a privilege to witness the marriage of these two wonderful people and I wish them all the best as they continue in their journey through life. Thank you for allowing me to be apart of your wedding day!

Rasul & Jenelle’s Wedding

I met Rasul and Jenelle through my sister-in-law, Samantha. Jenelle and Samantha have been best friends from childhood so naturally I was excited to be shooting this wedding.  I immediately liked Rasul and Jenelle when we met to do their engagement shoot. They are not the type of people who love being in front of the camera so it was my challenge to help make them feel more comfortable and allow them to let their personalities shine through any nervousness. It was not hard to see their fun loving and warm personalities. What stood out the most to me was how much they enjoy being with each other. They could make each other laugh by one look. They both have these infectious smiles and I had an enjoyable time getting to know them a bit before their wedding day.

Fast forward to October 18th, they chose to have a morning wedding, so we got started EARLY with all the preparations. Despite the cold fall morning and the early hour, this couple was all smiles. Their friends and family created one of the best atmospheres I have had the privilege to photograph in. Everyone was so relaxed, positive and excited. It was the way I think most people hope their weddings will be. Their ceremony was held outside in the brisk weather and despite the temperature, the sun was shining and lit up the pretty fall colors. The rest of the day was filled with some pretty wild weather, rain, snow flurries, wind….but it was calm and beautiful for the ceremony. Jenelle and Rasul’s ceremony was simple and genuine. I loved seeing such an intimate love the two of them allowed us all to be apart of as they said their vows.

Their reception was one big party with fabulous food and a lot of great entertainment from their wedding party, to their DJs, to their fun guests. Lots of dancing, food, and friends celebrating with each other made the afternoon one that everyone will be remembering for a long time!
